Ein Partyoutfit oder ein Cocktailkleid?

Ja was denn nun? Wo liegt der Unterschied? Schließlich gibt es ja auch Cocktailpartys. Tragen Frauen dort ausschließlich Cocktailkleider? Und was ist das überhaupt – eine Cocktailparty? Laut Wikipedia handelt es sich bei einer Cocktailparty um eine Form eines Stehempfangs… Aha – eine Form eines Stehempfangs… ????  Wikipedia sagt weiter, Cocktailpartys sind um 1920 in den Staaten entstanden und dieser Ursprung wird mit der Prohibition in Verbindung gebracht. Da der öffentliche Alkoholausschank verboten war, haben sich die Leute eben privat betrunken äähhhh getroffen. Üblicherweise beginnen Cocktailpartys nicht vor 17:30 Uhr und enden gegen 21 Uhr… Pünktliches Erscheinen wird nicht erwartet… dafür ist pünktliches Gehen umso wichtiger… und wenn man sich schon die Mühe gemacht hat zu Kommen, dann sollte man aus Höflichkeit auch mindestens 20 Minuten bleiben. Und wie der Namen schon sagt, werden bei so einem Get-together, Cocktails, Wein und andere Spirituosen konsumiert. Bier und Schnaps eher weniger… der ganz klassische Cocktailpartydrink ist laut Wikipedia der Martini… gerührt oder geschüttelt 😉

A party outfit or a cocktail dress?

Well what is it then?  Where’s the difference? After all there are such things called cocktail parties? Do the women there only wear cocktail dresses? And what is that anyway – a cocktail party?  According to Wikipedia a cocktail party is a type of stand-up reception. Aha- a type of stand-up reception … ??? Wikipedia continues on to explain that the first cocktail party took place in the USA around 1920 and is therefore often linked with the prohibition. Due to the fact that there was a nationwide ban on the selling of alcohol the people decided to get together privately and get drunk…ahhhhh…drink together. Generally cocktail parties don’t begin before 5.30 p.m. and end at about 9 p.m. It is not important to arrive on time …. However, leaving on time is very important… and as well as that, when the effort has been made to come, it is considered polite to remain at least 20 minutes. And as the name suggests, cocktails, wine and other spirits are consumed at the get-together. Beer and schnapps are not regular drinks … and according to Wikipedia the classical cocktail party drink is martini….stirred or shaken … 😉

Afterwork im Cocktailkleid

Im Gegensatz zum Ball sind Cocktailpartys übrigens nicht dem Adelsstand zuzuordnen eher der Arbeiterklasse, was auch irgendwie besser zum heutigen Namen passt. Weil auf eine klassische Cocktailparty wird heute wohl kaum mehr jemand eingeladen. Dafür macht man heute Afterwork… Was hingegen damals wie heute Bestand hat, ist das Cocktailkleid. Und wer hats erfunden? Die Schweizer … nein, natürlich nicht. Die haben ja schon Ricola. Coco Chanel soll es gewesen sein. Wobei sich da die Literatur nicht ganz einig ist, aber salonfähig soll Madame Chanel das Kleid auf alle Fälle gemacht haben. Nicht ganz so viel Chi chi wie ein Abendkleid, aber auch nicht so „normal“ wie Tageskleidung, nicht länger als wadenlang und körpernah geschnitten – so sollte es sein, das Cocktailkleid…

After work in cocktail dress

In contrast to a ball, the cocktail party cannot be traced back to nobility but more to the working-class, which somehow suits today’s name better. Today, very few people are invited to a classical cocktail party. In its place we have “after work parties”.  However, the cocktail dress was popular then and remains so today. And who invented it? The Swiss…..no, of course not.  They have Ricola! It is said that the cocktail dress was introduced by Coco Chanel. However not all of the literature agrees with this but Madame Chanel made the dress socially acceptable, in any case. Not as chic as an evening dress but not as “normal” as day wear… tea-length and close fitting – that’s the way it was to be – the cocktail dress…

Ist es nun ein Cocktailkleid?

Das ist hier die Frage – was ich jedoch nun mit absoluter Sicherheit weiß, ist, dass ich weder auf einer Cocktailparty noch auf einer Afterwork-Party eingeladen war, ein runder Geburtstag von einem sehr liebenswerten Menschen war der Anlass und der Abend war einfach perfekt für dieses Kleid. Es war warm und das Mitnehmen einer Jacke absolut überflüssig… ist eh immer schwierig, eine geeignete Jacke zu finden bei diesen Mega-Ärmel. Das „knödelt“ immer so. Doch darüber musste ich Gott sei Dank nicht nachdenken. Das Fest war jedenfalls großartig – nette Leute mit sehr viel guter Unterhaltung und sehr leckeren Häppchen. Das wiederum würde perfekt zur Cocktailparty passen, aber um 21 Uhr ist niemand nach Hause gegangen… 🙂 Das ist auch der Grund, warum ich auf den Fotos total müde aussehe, weil anstatt das Kleid vor der Party zu fotografieren, haben wir es am nächsten Tag gemacht und man sieht mir die vier Stunden Schlaf echt an – aber so isses halt… Schlaft schön ähhhh eine schöne Woche wünsche ich Euch <3

So, is it a cocktail dress?

That is the question here – the only thing I know for certain is that I wasn’t invited to a cocktail party nor to an after-work party. It was a significant birthday of a very likeable person and it was a perfect evening for this dress. It was warm and it wasn’t necessary to take a jacket… it’s always difficult to find a suitable jacket to wear with these large sleeves. They get caught up. But thank God I didn’t have to worry about that here. The party was also great – nice people with lots of good entertainment and delicious finger food. All this would have been very suitable for a cocktail party but nobody went home at 9 o’clock … 🙂  That’s the reason why I look so tired in these photos, because instead of taking a photo before the party, we took it the next day and you can really see that I only got four hours sleep – but that’s the way it was…Sleep well … ahhhh …  have a nice week<3

Kleid: Singledress - Wenn ich nur mehr Gelegenheiten hätte,
Cocktailkleider anzuziehen, dann würde ich mir sofort ein paar neue kaufen.
Dieses hier zum Beispiel ist so wunderbar in Eggshape* oder dieses hier
mit langen Ärmeln** und Ruby*** sieht auch toll aus. Es gibt auch mal ne Party im Herbst... bestimmt!!!
